Welcome
If you believe that the 2008 election might affect your investments, you have come to the right place.
Election Stocks is an investment site. Our purpose is to examine the 2008 elections from a financial market perspective. The goal is to help investors make wise decisions.
The material at Election Stocks reflects the work of our research team — political scientists (current or former college professors), investment professionals, and some talented students. We intend to use the conclusions in making our own investment decisions.
Why make public the results of our research? The answer is simple: Sharing can help us all.
We hope and expect that this will be a community-based effort. Anyone who learns something important about a candidate’s issue positions should join the discussion. Issue positions, if adopted, have implications for specific stocks. The discussion forums provide a place for everyone to discuss candidates, issues, and the affected stocks.
How NOT to use this site
Do not use Election Stocks as the basis for voting. Choosing national leadership is serious. Pick the right leader and then pick the right stocks.
Do not use Election Stocks as a platform for advocating a particular candidate. We are interested in analysis, not advocacy.
Do not use Election Stocks as personal investment advice. Take the ideas as a starting point, do your own research, and consult your investment professional.
The Outcome
Within a few months we hope to develop two stock portfolios for each candidate. The bullish portfolio will be stocks that might benefit from the candidate’s election. The bearish portfolio includes the stocks that would be harmed. The Election Stocks Community will help to select our official portfolios.
We will do additional tracking and analysis of the candidate portfolios and share our conclusions with the community.
Welcome and please join the discussion.
