Extending Cash for Clunkers
Majority Leader Harry Reid vowed to pass the additional $2 billion the Cash for Clunkers program needs to continue. And considering the huge majority the Democrats have in the Senate, it’s fairly certain that Reid will be able to keep this promise. Assuming the program remains enormously popular, what’s the best way to cash in on it?
So far, the top sellers from Cash for Clunkers have been (in order) the Ford Focus, the Toyota Corolla, the Honda Civic, the Toyota Prius and the Toyota Camry.
Toyota (TM) is all over that list and shouldn’t be going anywhere. It’s also pretty safe to say Ford (F) will continue to benefit from the program. We suggest you beware the other American car companies; there are rumors suggesting the law may be changed in their favor, but at this point there is simply no substance to support that.
