Finally! A Blue Dog Compromise
In what we believe to honestly be the first piece of good news since Obama proposed healthcare reform, fiscally conservative Democrats have reached a compromise with the rest of the party. For clarification: this will not bring any bill to vote on the House floor before the August recess. But it does have important implications for the success of such a bill in the fall.
The fact that the Democrats are actually forming a cohesive voting unit suggests that all of Obama’s domestic policy – not just healthcare reform – stands a much higher chance of passing. Now we are looking at probable healthcare reform in the mid-fall, meaning the time to buy in could be much sooner than we had thought.
It goes further than that, though. Consider the alternative energy bill that nobody has heard about since the media found new things to cover. What used to be “too close to call” now has the potential to be a substantial legislative accomplishment. The new spirit of cooperation from Democrats could make playing the Obama stocks a whole lot easier.

As a moderate Republican I have always thought that our party should have been more engaged with the health care and energy debate, all I can say now is thank god that the blue dogs are holding the Presidents feet to the fire;;(or so it seems),right now.
I would hope that Republicans see that a bill will be passed soon and put up there proposals sooner, not later.
