A More Accurate Reform Timetable
According to an article in Salon, appropriately titled “The Blue Dogs flunk obedience school,” Baucus and his coalition of conservative Democrats are meeting in secret with modereate Republicans to draft their own bipartisan healthcare bill. This leaves Obama’s hope of passing something before the August recess extremely unlikely, as it will be literally impossible to pass legislation without the Blue Dogs’ support. But the sort of behind-closed-doors legislating that is going on now could easily take until the end of the year – but then who know what it will include in terms of investment opportunities?
There are other ways to play the Obama stocks at this point, like watching the Stimulus Package kick in, and we suggest that you stick to those.
