Healthcare Reform in Danger
Our legislators are busy fleshing out the details of healthcare reform, which is erupting into a progressively messier battle by the minute. Obama is set to come out and urge the process forward today, but we still are unlikely to see substantive legislation until the fall. Frankly, the president is having a tough time selling the enormous price tag on healthcare reform; this is very clear from his dropping approval ratings. And with the more liberal congressmen in a serious ideological rift with the more moderate ‘blue dogs’ over raising taxes on the wealthy – let alone the existence of a public option – it is quite likely that no consensus will be reached on a substantive document.
This is very bad news for anybody looking to play off of the Obama stocks. It’s hard enough to find the right time to buy in off of this kind of thing, but with a legislative battle this bad and a time frame this ambiguous, you might just be better off holding onto your money.
