Issues With Defense
Obama’s budget plans call for what appears to be a 4% increase in the spending money for defense. We at Election Stocks have been quite sure in the past that Obama would be continuing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for some time, thereby keeping the defense sector relatively stable.
However, many liberals in legislature want to seize the opportunity to significantly lower defense spending while they control both the White House and Congress. But defense spending is tricky to analyze because Bush did not include his increases in his budget – he merely tacked them on as appropriations for the Iraq War.
Obama’s apparent 4% increase is actually a step down from the spending levels that Bush had going. We will have a follow up once we know for sure what, if any, programs are eliminated.
