Alternative End Game Strategies
Yesterday, exactly one week before voting day, both the McCain and Obama campaigns released stump speeches to RealClearPolitics.com. These first hand accounts demonstrate the staggering differences that each side is taking to the final moments before the election.
Obama’s speech was riddled with anaphora, emphasizing the importance of the idea of voting. He knows that if he’s going to win the key swing states that he so sorely needs, minorities and the American youth (groups that usually are more passive in American politics) are going to be out voting en masse.
McCain’s speech – like much of his campaign – went overly negative. He hardly finishes two sentences before criticizing his Democratic opponent. McCain’s been on a downward slope since the economy got roughed up, so he is resorting to the ruthless Karl Rove tactics that worked against him back in 2000.
