McCain: Too Tough on Foreign Policy
McCain jumps through a lot of hoops to appear different from the current Republican president, but his terrible judgment regarding the G-8 takes it much too far. His actual choice would be to exclude Russia from the G-8 because lately their government has been centralized through less than democratic means.
This begs several questions. First of all being: hasn’t the environment suffered enough because of politics? It would obviously be more environmentally level-headed to have as many countries as possible participating in treaties to lower emissions and move towards more effective and safer fuels.
Also, what about the diplomatic business the United States still has to do with Russia? This Los Angeles Times article says it best:
We have a common interest in fighting terrorism, preventing Iran from building nuclear weapons, securing nuclear materials everywhere, reducing nuclear stockpiles, maintaining stability in Afghanistan and Central Asia, developing new security arrangements in East Asia and improving prospects for peace in the Middle East. Russia must also be included in any comprehensive discussion of global energy and environmental issues.
McCain ought to realize that the Russia we deal with today is not the Russia he has known most of his life. They are not communist and the democratic system has not been beaten to death with a stick. We at Election Stocks sincerely hope that McCain is willing to sit down and talk with hostile nations and doesn’t make it into an issue of preconditions.
