Clinton’s Hidden Motive
Joe Garofoli at the SFGate Politics Blog brings up an interesting point in his post about Chelsea Clinton. It’s a great post, but if you don’t have time to read it what he says is this: that Chelsea shouldn’t as guarded from the press as she is, because she is publicly campaigning for Hillary. We decided to investigate this idea further and came up with some interesting (and no doubt controversial) conclusions.
Interestingly enough, Chelsea works from Avenue Capital, a hedge fund run by Marc Lasry. On that same note, Avenue Capital has donated $55,500 to the Clinton campaign. Lasry is most well known for pioneering the distressed securities market. Because of the risk involved, we could surmise Clinton would bailout this hedge fund, should they need protection. Because of this, industries in which Avenue Capital are invested are unlikely to experience severe collapses. Take a look at this quote from the Avenue Capital site regarding their strategies: “In addition, the Avenue U.S. Strategy may invest in real estate debt or equity.” Could this be why Hillary is so intent on bailing out the real-estate market? If follows logically that at least part of the reason that Clinton wants a $30 billion stimulus package for the real estate market (largest of the 3 candidates) is that her daughter’s firm stands to make a killing off it.
Regardless of whether or not this is true, someone was bound to make the connection some time, so it’s no wonder that Chelsea doesn’t want to speak with the press. Joe Garofoli seems to have a point, these off-limits people often turn up some of the most interesting information.
