Obama and the Housing Crisis
Barack Obama supports the Chris Dodd plan detailed here for resolving the housing crisis. The Hillary Clinton campaign puts his suggested reforms far right, moreso than Bush, on the political spectrum. But although a conservative solution may be safest for the market, the Clinton camp goes on to suggest that Obama doea not grasp the scope of the issue. In fact, Obama’s plan provides only a third of the money for a foreclosure fund that Hillary’s does.
The housing crisis is currently harming companies involved in housing construction:
Toll Brothers, Inc. (TOL)
Brookfield Homes Corporation (BHS)
Meritage Homes Corporation (MTH)
D.R. Horton, Inc. (DHI)
NVR, Inc. (NVR)
and financial industries:
Fannie Mae (FNM)
Freddie Mac (FRE)
Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corp. (AGM)
Countrywide Financial Corporation (CFC)
