I question the supporters of Ron Paul

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketI think it’s great that the man with two first names has so much internet support, it’s really exciting to see a contemporary grassroots movement. But it seems to me like there are some places where advocacy of this guy might not be entirely advantageous.

This week, a humor/parody site called ytmnd.com which specializes in a unique brand of site featuring only an image, a looping sound clip, and zooming text, had a Ron Paul 2008 site sponsored on its front page. Six separate people have paid some $72 dollars to keep this site in the public eye. The main problem is that, seeing as it is a website designed for humorous content, I cannot tell if it is a joke or another Paulite(and I’m sure this goes for other people too). Therefore, I think it’s unlikely that Ron Paul will get too many votes off of this kind of thing. Do the Ron Paulites know this? Or are they just spamming every possible venue?

He is also endorsed by the makers of a recent conspiracy theory movie ZietGeist, which is a film about world religion, a 9/11 truth movement, and secret world government. However, just thinking about the typical conspiracy theorist, I’m not stricken by a mental picture of a guy who goes out and votes. Therefore it makes me wonder if having stances against a North American Union and desiring to abolish the Federal Reserve are really going to be all that great for getting him past the primaries.

But he’s winning straw polls in all sorts of places, recently Maryland. If the polls were taken online, I assume they were probably not the most accurate polls on earth. But maybe an internet support overload really will translate over to tangible votes for Ron Paul. You never know.

Ron Paul stands for smaller government for real. No one else running will actually reduce the size of government. Thats why im voting Ron Paul!

I don’t know anything about the website you mentioned, so I think I’ll just have to question your judgement because you do.

As for the truthers, they know that Paul doesn’t support any conspiracy. But he does think that government investigations shouldn’t be run by the government, and he suspects that an independent investigation would show typical government mismanagement and the woeful inadequacies of big bureaucracy.

I’ve heard the communists support Hillary.

Wow, I thought people were supposed to do research before blogging away about stuff.

So, your nutty idea about spamming polls has been discredited months ago. And, of course, the Maryland Straw Poll, like most other straw polls, are held in physical locations. This particular one was held all week long at the Maryland State Fair, where all Marylanders were invited to vote at a booth run by the Maryland Republican Party. Just so you know…

Oh, and Ron Paul is not advocating the immediate dismantling of the Federal Reserve. He understands that such an action would create unnecessary disruption in the economy. On the other hand, he seems to be alone among the candidates in understanding how the institution works, and therefore recognizes that it is not a magical institution that can make recessions go away without cost. Yes, he is very skeptical of this institution of central economic planning, and hopes to have a chance to stabilize our currency, just as Reagan did, but he isn’t a crazed radical, as your post suggests.

In fact, there’s very little fact in this little blog. Not sure why it’s even here. Except perhaps to poke fun at someone “with two first names”.

…and, I’m sorry…since when is it news when a small-time supporter of a political candidate pays $72 to buy advertising somewhere that doesn’t work. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a campaign where something like that doesn’t happen. No one really pays any attention. It’s only useful if you’re trying to dig up something meaningless to make fun of.

Look, if you cant see that *ALL* other candidates are maniacal spending war mongering authoritarian totalitarian that have their own power in mind over doing the right thing, then I cant help you. I tell everyone now, vote for Ron Paul, or I don’t care who you vote for. If its not Ron Paul, it really simply doesn’t matter.

Ron Paul stands for less coercion (less government). That is why you should vote for him.

Remember folks, government depends on the use of coercion to fund its spending. The money the government receives from its citizens is not voluntarily given, if it was, we would call it donations, but we call it taxes. The more government spends, the more it needs to coerce (tax) its citizens. If you want to reduce coercion against innocent people, lobby to reduce government.

“How soon we forget history… Government is not reason. Government is not eloquence. It is force. And, like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

Research the candidates. I truly believe that the government bureaucracy is broken and the way our economy is manipulated by the power elite is criminal.

I disagree with Ron Paul on a few issues, the biggest being the environment, but he is the only candidate who is not afraid to look at the real problems within our system, and more so, he is not afraid to call for change.

Even if in the end you choose not to support Paul, just by listening to him, you will learn a lot about how our government really works.
