John Edwards Economic Plan on CNBC
John Edwards believes that the American tax system is fundamentally unfair, as he just said on CNBC. He is interested in both short and long term economic growth, and believes it can be done by strengthening the middle class. Edwards seems very interested in making sure the middle class has enough money to put their children through college, implying importance between education and a good economy. The main points of his plan were to:
- Repeal tax cuts for incomes over 200K a year
- Repeal estate taxes for all except estates valued over 4 million
- Raise capital gains from 15% to 28% if over 200K a year
- Close private equity loopholes
- Publicly traded private equity and hedge funds will pay corporate taxes
- Deferred executive pensions at $1M a year
Please discuss his plan in his forum here.
