Gingrich Criticizes Inefficiencies in Healthcare
Splendid news for healthcare technology stocks if Newt Gingrich finds his way into the Oval Office in the 2008 election. In this article by cio.com, he suggests the increased use of technology by doctors and medical insurance companies. Apparently, an “expert electronic system” would eliminate the many, sometimes fatal, flaws made by handwritten prescriptions.
Also, in the event of a terrorist attack by biological weapons the system links all medical institutions in the country, providing an efficient treating service. The same efficiency could of course be applied in non-emergency situations, by making patient information easily accessible and saving millions to be invested in elsewhere in the healthcare industry.
